community engagement
as a parent, adam spent years at the children’s museum and dreamed of painting in the space.
the interior mural is located in the museum’s Dream Theater—a place where children engage with story time and theatrical performances. the design is an aristocrats-type environment—with chimneys, rooftops and clouds. the sky fades with a myriad of whimsical colors and shapes, inviting children to look at the city skyline, imagine and dream.
the exterior mural was created through a partnership with blank canvas, tcmu and the city of greenville. youth attended a summer camp centered around henri matisse, where they were challenged to draw, cut and paint large joyful shapes. these shapes were then used to create a mural, painted by campers, surrounding the museum’s dumpster.
