this vintage postcard inspired mural was the first new mural painted in laurens, south carolina in over ten years. the project was made possible through a RFP and personal interview with current mayor.
through various engagement exercises with laurens community stakeholders and residents, the content for the mural was developed. several themes and historical moments emerged—notably, the musician pink anderson, the original coca cola bottle plant, train and agriculture culture, as well as the family-friendly atmosphere of downtown laurens. each of these themes are seen in the final mural, which is prominently located for new visitors and locals to enjoy as they drive into downtown’s main street.
